Google AdWords is an advertising system that displays sponsored links in Google search results as well as banners and text ads on Google Display Network pages, cost-per-click and CPM (Cost Per Mille). From July 2018, the system is called Google Ads.

The AdWords campaign, in fact Google Ads, is a form of search engine marketing that allows you to display short advertising texts in the search results, based on the keywords selected by the advertiser and linking these ads to the indicated websites. The advertiser pays when the AdWords ad is clicked by the user and it will be redirected to the advertiser’s site. Thanks to this, online advertisements go to people who are interested in the product or service and at the moment they search for it on the Internet.
A search engine in the form of text consists of two headings of up to 30 characters long, a text field (up to 80 characters) and a display URL (up to 15 characters). They can be accompanied by ad extensions, including sitelinks, directing to the most important sections of the website, location extensions indicating the physical address of the advertiser and call extensions, presenting the telephone number and enabling a telephone connection after clicking the “Call” button.
AdWords campaigns also include displaying image ads (banners) on a network of Google-powered websites, the Google Display Network (GDN), sponsored video content on YouTube, and Gmail ads.
